Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Training:
Brief Profile
Over the last seven years I have been an "informal carer" looking after five relatives; two of whom were suffering from dementia, another with terminal cancer of the oesophagus, one with severe arthritis and another with damage to the spine and shoulder. This experience in addition to managing both the Social Services, nursing and care homes as well as coordinating individual care packages and reviews, has led me to start up my own domiciliary care company specialising in dementia. One of the company’s core values is to encourage and support the elderly in remaining in their own homes and avoid being institutionalised. The other is person-centred care planning - looking at the whole person, their background and personality, rather than just the symptom or disability.
Prior to this I held a channel marketing management position in IBM covering eBusiness Hosting Services and eServers Influencer Channel Programs across EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa).
Before IBM and from 1975 onwards, I established and sold three companies and have been an independent business development and marketing consultant for the IT sector.
